The story of how Kid Scripture Art came to be
For years, I have been on a memorizing scripture adventure and fallen in love with memorizing God's word. First a single verse, then passages, and sometimes entire books of the Bible. God and His word inspires and changes lives.
Somewhere along the journey, my sweet grandkids were born and I began investing in them. Reading to kids has always been a favorite--having a little one in your lap, looking at pictures and discussing, reading the same words over and over. It can be such a rich time! And before you know it, they pick up and repeat the words you speak! So instead of them learning only rhymes and silly songs, I thought, I need to illustrate Bible verses and read those over and over....
So I got to work. I chose verses and got out my supplies--pencils, erasers, rulers, watercolor paints, and black writing markers. The illustrations are whimsical. They are wonky. They are fun and imperfect. But there's beauty and freedom in imperfection!
And sure enough, those little precious minds were reciting bible verses like a pro! And it sharpens me also as I read with them and review great verses from the best book ever written!
